Kinderbauernhof auf dem Görlitzer Park: Urban Farm

01

Everyday Berlin surprises me more and more. Berlin is the capital of Germany, a big city, with almost 900km2 and more than 3.400.000 inhabitants. Even thought, compared with other capital cities, you don’t feel overwhelmed, the streets are not very crowded, it’s full of green areas and you can feel everywhere a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. You can find huge parks, swimming pools in the middle of the river, urban gardens, and what’s more, farms in the middle of the city. And that’s what impressed us a lot when we came across with some cute donkeys, goats, sheep and rabbits during a walk around Kreuzberg.

Kinderbauernhof auf dem Görlitzer Park it’s located, as its name says, in Görlitzer Park, in the middle of Kreuzberg. The farm it’s a project that has supposed a lot of effort and dedication, in which they have been working on since 1978.

Kinderbauernhof auf dem Görlitzer Park it’s not only a farm. It’s a pedagogical project in which children not only learn how to take care of the animals. They also organize many activities such as creative and painting workshops, cooking classes, homework help, garden groups… They have real contact with the nature and with the animals, and of course, they have loads of fun too! Not any more living in a big city can avoid you not to know how to feed a goat!

The farm it’s also a family space. It’s always full of parents spending time with their kids and doing outdoor activities. They are always involved in the whole project. There is also a Café inside where families can share a cup of coffee.

Truth is though, that even if your not a children or neither a father or a mother, Kinderbauernhof auf dem Görlitzer Park it’s a beautiful place to go, where you can have a wonderful time surrounded by the nature and feel as a kid again.

  1. Hey, those are brilliant photos! They have a lovely retro feel to them and that is exactly how I perceive the place when I go to Görli Streichelzoo with my kids: old-fashioned is the key word here. In the nicest possible way.
