Piknic Electronik Barcelona

Sunday, picnic, park and music. That’s Piknic Electronik Barcelona, a new amazing idea to spend the sundays outdoors without having to leave the city. Last Sunday it was the first edition, and as I was finding myself on vacation there, I didn’t miss it.

Piknic Electronik is a new kind of event, a project that is already going on in Montréal and Gatienau with a lot of success.

In Barcelona, the event is located in Joan Brossa Gardens, in the mountain of Montjuic, with beautiful views of the city, and by now, they have programmed 7 editions for the months of July and September.

Their mission is to get together friends, family, quality electronic music and great food in a green environment. And I must say, that last sunday, they already achieved it. James Holden was in the line up. Friends were dancing or lying down and having a homemade picnic, families were having fun in the many activities programmed for their kids. It was the perfect plan for spending the whole sunday being surrounded by the nature.

The organizers of they event really though on everything. If you were lazy to prepare your own meal, they also had some stands serving different kind of food, and of course, drinks, as it wasn’t allowed to bring in any non-alcoholic beverage and any bottles up to 500 ml. There was an area dedicated to families, areas to refresh you from the heat with fresh showers, the Piknic Boutik with some merchandise…

I had a wonderful Sunday there and I think it’s a great initiative for a city as Barcelona. I’m sure I will repeat whenever I am there. The only drawback? It’s not free. It costs 10 euros, or 8 if you go before 15h or if you happen to to have the Carnet Jove card. They also sell the Season pass that costs 30 euros, which is worth it if you want to repeat at least a couple of times.
