Librería San Ginés
During one of the days in Madrid, I remember we were walking in the city centre when we suddenly came across a bookshop. Actually, it had the appearance of a bookstand or book-kiosk. Anyway, we stopped by and took a look.
Librería San Ginés is an old bookshop where you can buy cheap secondhand books. They have a large assortment of titles and variety. There were not only Spanish novels, but also French. They had classic encyclopaedias and some editorial book collections. Apart from that, we even saw some law manuals.
The bookshop is well-known in the city because of its history. It’s said that many writers, politicians and artists used to meet here in the last century. Truth is, it seemed that someone had been collecting all those publications for years and now he wanted to get rid of them. I realised I would have to take a little while if I really wanted to find something that interested me.
In any case, the place was truly charming and looked like it had been taken out of a flea-market… So I didn’t doubt to write about it! And if you ever get to walk there, don’t forget to visit the famous Chocolatería San Ginés and enjoy the most famous “chocolate con churros” of the city. ¡Buen provecho!
